The Good Wine Habit

About Tommasella

A seeker of new wine treasures

aboutme1Currently based in Gothenburg (Sweden), I was born in Reggio Calabria (Italy) and lived between the North and South of the Country, nourishing my cosmopolitan attitude. Although being deeply attached to my Calabrian and Sicilian origins, I’ve always felt the urgency of new discoveries that could open up my cultural horizons. And this is what happened with wine. My first contact with “Bacchus” was a ruby glass of Nero d’Avola I had when I was 20. Its intensity and smoothness touched my soul so deeply that I started trying more wines with eager curiosity. I could never imagine that this would have become my passion and my career. I realised it after having spent twelve long years as Web Project Manager in Rome and Spain. Working hard to match customers’ needs with the creative ability of my work team was an exciting, but also exhausting task. And cultivating my deep passion for wine seemed to be the perfect relief.

After taking the Wine and Spirit Level 2 and 3 exams at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust in London, I decided to follow my passion’s calling, turning it into a professional path. The WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wine & Spirits was the next step to make, in order to reach a deeper knowledge and a comprehensive tasting skill. During the programme I had the chance to broaden my horizons, tasting any style of wine and spirit from every corner of the world.

Furthermore, I have graduated with Honors from the French Wine Scholar program and with Highest Honors from the Italian Wine Scholar program of the Wine Scholar Guild.

I am a WSET Diploma graduate now and a WSET Certified Educator. I teach WSET courses from Level 1 to Level 3 in Wines at my WSET School in Gothenburg, The Good Wine Habit, and from Level 2 to Diploma Level in Wine and Spirits as on line Educator for the WSET flagship school in London. Since 2018 I have been offering the WSET qualifications at YRGO - Högre Yrkesutbildning, run by the City of Gothenburg, as part of their Sommelier course.

I am also a Vinitaly Italian Wine Ambassador (IWA) for the Swedish market, after having successfully passed the VIA Certification Course exam in 2018 in Verona. The course was taught by the leading Italian wine expert Dr. Ian D´Agata. In 2019 I was officially entitled Valpolicella Wine Specialist by the Consorzio Vini della Valpolicella for the Swedish market.

I also contribute as independent writer to award-winning wine blogs and electronic journals such as Catavino, El Mundo Vino, Spanish Wine Lover. I host wine tastings focused on Spanish and International wines for privates and companies and I take part as associate judge in national and international wine competitions, such as the International Wine Challenge, Mundus Vini and Mundus Vini Nordic, the International Wine City Challenge, WOW, BacchusPremio Baco and AWC Vienna.

When not working or studying, I love doing sports, especially swimming and running, playing my Spanish cajón, travelling and spending time with my family and friends. And when the sun comes down, of course, enjoying a good glass of wine with some soul music.
