A beginner-to-intermediate level qualification addressed to spirits professionals and enthusiasts aiming at getting a comprehensive knowledge in spirits and liqueurs and willing to take on job skills and expertise in the field. This course is delivered in 15 hours of tutored supervise learning + 11 hours of private study, during which you will also learn how to taste spirits and liqueurs through the application of a globally-recognised approach to tasting.

At the end of the course, you will be able to identify how key raw ingredients and production methods influence the style and quality of the key spirits and liqueurs of the world. If you work with spirits, you will get the right confidence to provide guidance on the use and service of spirits and to recommend customers when selecting spirits and liqueurs to meet their desires. A knowledge to apply in bar service and in retail and wholesaling businesses. 

Course Programme

The course will cover:

  • The spirits production methods and how they affect the final quality and style
  • The key characteristics of the main styles of spirits and liqueurs and their labelling terms
  • The common equipment used and the principles involved in the service
  • The major global spirits brands
  • Tutored tastings of more than 30 of spirits and liqueurs 
  • How to describe spirits using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits® (SAT)

Requirements before attending the course

No prior knowledge is required, although you must be 18 years old at the time of enrolment. All our courses are taught in English, so a good level of English is beneficial.  If you are completely new to the world of spirits, you may wish to study the Level 1 Award in Spirits first, but this is not mandatory.

About the exam

In order to obtain the WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits certificate and the lapel pin, you must sit a final exam consisting of 50 multiple choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes. To pass, students must answer 55% of the questions correctly. The exam will take place after the completion of the course.

Please, note that the exam will be sit at one of The Good Wine Habit´s venues in Sweden. Details of the dates and locations will be indicated after your enrollment in the course. Cost of the Course

The cost includes the tuition, the study materials, the tasting samples, and the examination fee.

One of the most experienced and reputable spirits educators and sommeliers of Sweden and one of the few professionals WSET Level 3 Award in Spirits certified in the world. He successfully passed the WSET Spirits Educator Training Programme in 2020, being nowadays an official WSET Certified Spirits Educator.

Founder of Brabar AB, a consulting company focused on restaurant and bars industry´s development and training since 1995, including the YH education International Bar Management. Hans has been a creative leader at the Restaurangakademi in Stockholm, and he was the Industry Improver of the Year at the Bartenders Choice Awards (BCA) in 2013, Sweden's most prestigious award for Swedish cocktail bars.

He works as a consultant for hundreds of international spirits brands such as Bols, Tanqueray, Smirnoff, Lagavulin and Zacapa.
